“ŽENOMRZAČKE PRIČE” – KOTORART, KOTOR, MONTENEGRO

Ženomrzačke priče, Kotor, Crna Gora, Montenegro
The play was based on the texts of the American writer Patricia Highsmith, known for her psychologically complex, often disturbing characters, and was directed under the mentorship of Professor Dubravka Drakić. This stage confession questions the dark layers of society, through portraits of women in extreme, grotesque and painfully real situations of misogyny, whether they are in the role of victims or perpetrators.

At the center of the play is the transformative performance of Anđela Marunović, who through four different characters, a perfectionist, a puritan, a breeder and a dancer, explores not only their destinies, but also the mechanisms of social control, gender power and personal struggle.

“Working on the play Misogynistic Tales represents a deeply significant experience for me for several reasons. The text itself is extremely layered and requires essential immersion in complex characters. Hajsmith is known for her ability to write characters that are borderline, fascinating and disturbing, which for me, as an actress, provides fertile ground for research,” said actress Anđela Marunović. “Stanislavski helped me build an inner plot, Brecht gave me distance and an opportunity for social criticism, and Artaud inspired the exploration of boundaries through symbol, movement and music,” adds the actress.
The music for the play was composed by Marija Mitrović, who performs music live on the piano, together with drummer Martin Đorđević.

The play “The Misogynistic Story” brings not only an outstanding acting achievement, but also an important social message about how gender prejudices, expectations and patterns of behavior continue to shape the reality of many women. Through theatre, music and light, the audience is invited not only to observe, but also to think, feel and reflect
