Building in getreidegasse street, number 9, with the yellow facade is called hagenauer.  It is named after a trader and the owner of the building who rented one of the apartments to the mozart family. The mozart family lived on the third floor for 26 years.

On january 27th, in 1756, wolfgang amadeus mozart was born in it.

Mozart spent his childhood with his parents and sister in this house. The apartment was transformed into a museum in 1880. Portraits and original documents, letters … are exhibited in the museum.

The furniture is authentic from the 18th century. Mozart’s violin and clavicord are also exhibited.

On the first floor is the annual rotating exhibition, which is intriguing for Mozart connoisseurs as well.
